Gene was a United States WWII Army Veteran in the 135th Infantry. He also received a French Legion of Honor Medal. He was a member of the American Legion Post 72 in Mt. Carmel and the Amelia Masonic Lodge #590 F&AM, for 65 years. Gene was President of the American Bowling Congress from 1988-1989. While in the Bowling Congress he was name Kentucky Colonel and got his Piolet license. He was also involved in local and state bowling associations. Gene was a civic minded person, thrifty and a hardworking man with high standards, especially in business. He was an active reader; he was even head of a mystery book club. Feeding the birds, deer and spoiling cats were some of his favorite things to do. He loved outdoor activities, loved to travel and loved sports, especially the Cincinnati sport teams. Gene enjoyed staying active and fit.
